My PhD research focused on the social worlds of female patients in Victorian lunatic asylums, from 1870 to 1914, and I am currently researching the comparative experiences of male patients.

My general research interests are the history of medicine, psychiatric history, historical fiction and the Victorian and Classical eras. I am particularly interested in class, gender, and individual lives.

I am currently an Adjunct Research Officer and Academic Casual at La Trobe University, Melbourne.
